The Brush tail Opossum was originally imported from Australia for their fur. They have become a pest in New Zealand due to idyllic environment in our native bush. They live on the fresh young shoots of the trees. They are the main spreader of the disease Tuberculosis on farms. These animals are protected in Australia.
